Sanctuary Forest seeks a highly motivated, dynamic, and experienced individual to assist with and implement the tasks and activities of our Water Stewardship Program. This position is based at the Sanctuary Forest office in Whitethorn, CA, approximately 30 minutes west of Garberville.

Sanctuary Forest is a land and water trust whose mission is to conserve the Mattole River watershed and surrounding areas for wildlife habitat and aesthetic, spiritual and intrinsic values, in cooperation with our diverse community.

Water Stewardship Program Duties (~90% of time):
Under the supervision of the Water Program Director, the Program Coordinator will perform key support tasks instrumental to our work to conserve, restore, and enhance the water resources of the Mattole River. Duties include:
•    Responsible for the summertime streamflow monitoring program, including field monitoring, data and equipment management, and managing volunteer monitors.
•    Responsible for groundwater monitoring associated with groundwater recharge projects.
•    Coordination and oversight for water stewardship projects including preparing project permits.
•    Responsible for managing tasks in the Storage and Forbearance Program, including forbearance notifications and landowner outreach.
•    Assist with project development tasks necessary for new water projects, including preparation of grant proposals, feasibility studies, and project cost estimates.
•    Assist with project assessment including pre and post project data analysis, preparation of tables and graphs and report writing.
•    Management and maintenance of water program files, including organizing network and paper files, writing protocols for efficient program management, and ensuring that all essential documents are securely stored in accordance with the Sanctuary Forest Recordkeeping Policy.

Other duties (approximately 10% of time) may include:
•    Assist with land and water stewardship education including water rights.
•    Assisting in managing office needs, filing, outreach and events as needed.
