The Stewardship Program Manger is a full-time exempt position on MALT’s Conservation Team working under the direction of the Associate Director of Conservation-Stewardship. This position provides program and project management for MALT’s Stewardship Assistance Program (SAP), including but not limited to, (i) managing program development, (ii) providing on-the-ground technical assistance to farmers and ranchers and (ii) planning and implementing complex stewardship and climate-beneficial projects with multiple stakeholders, contractors, and funding partners.

In addition, the Stewardship Program Manager works closely with the Conservation Team staff to monitor conservation easements, support the easement acquisition program and educate the public about the importance of farm and ranchland conservation and stewardship in Marin.

The Stewardship Program Manager will work both at MALT’s Point Reyes Station office and in the field throughout West Marin, with an option to work remotely when circumstances permit or require. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Founded in 1980 by a broad coalition of ranchers, environmentalists, and community leaders, Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) is a member-based nonprofit organization dedicated to permanently protecting Marin County farmland for farming and ranching. We also work with agricultural landowners and public and private partners to support and enhance agricultural viability and sustainability locally and regionally. Some of the Bay Area’s most highly acclaimed dairy and cheese products, grass-fed meats and organic crops are produced on farmland protected by MALT conservation easements, which total more than 54,000 acres on 86 family farms and ranches.

Over the past ten years, MALT’s Stewardship Assistance Program (SAP) grant program has contributed to a wide variety of conservation practices on farms, ranches, and dairies protected by MALT agricultural conservation easements. Through careful planning, 135 projects have leveraged significant state and federal funding while building landowner relationships, proactively preventing easement violations, improving water quality, building climate resiliency, and helping producers to reduce on-farm GHG emissions. SAP has gained an increased interest from landowners and donors over the past several years.

MALT’s comfortable office is located just off Highway 1 in the vibrant community of Point Reyes Station in beautiful West Marin, home to Cowgirl Creamery, Bovine Bakery, and Toby’s Feed Barn. Tomales Bay, Point Reyes National Seashore, and other outdoor wonders are only minutes away. We offer competitive salary, paid vacation and sick time, health, dental and vision insurance, retirement benefits, family friendly policies, remote work opportunities and a commitment to honoring work/life balance. Come join our team of highly motivated and passionate staff who care deeply about our mission and one another.
