Real Property Coordinator – Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority seeks a Real Property Coordinator to provide critical support to land transactions and the Authority’s strategic real property initiatives.

Our mission is to conserve the natural environment, support agriculture and connect people to nature by protecting open spaces, natural areas, and working farms and ranches for future generations. We have protected 28,000 acres of natural and agricultural lands in Santa Clara County. Our agency operates a network of open space lands to manage and conserve natural resources and provide compatible opportunities for hiking, biking, and equestrian uses, with a focus on increasing equity of access to the outdoors for all our constituents.

We know our continued success depends on our employees and the work they do. We are committed to providing a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages growth and development; and acknowledges individual and team achievements.

The Ideal Candidate
You come to this work with a passion for conservation and wanting to contribute your skills and experience to a mission driven organization like the Open Space Authority. You are a detail oriented and organized individual with demonstrated experience in real estate, conservation planning, or environmental science. You possess the ability to analyze information and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations, conveying key information with concise analysis and actionable recommendations.

You are a systems thinker who can connect the day-to-day transactional work to the bigger picture of the Authority’s conservation goals and priorities. You also thrive in a dynamic work environment, where each day is different and new opportunities are presented. You easily flow between the data driven work of real property transactions, to drafting communications that are easily understandable for a variety of audiences, to building relationships with Authority partners. Following policies and guidelines is second nature to you. Whether guided by an internal process or by applicable law, you can be relied on to consistently meet expectations and ensure compliance on behalf of the Authority.

You bring experience with real estate including conservation easements, covenants, deed restrictions, bargain sales, and donations. You also have familiarity with land use and planning in California, and appropriate environmental law, such as CEQA. This position supports the real property program at the Authority, but it is about much more than real estate transactions – it is about realizing the full mission of the Open Space Authority.
