Marin Agricultural Land Trust
Founded in 1980
Mission Statement: The first farmland trust in the nation, the Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) is a donor supported, nonprofit organization created in 1980 by a coalition of ranchers and environmentalists to permanently preserve Marin County farmland. Some of the Bay Area's most highly acclaimed dairy products and organic crops are produced on farmland protected by MALT conservation easements, which total more than 55,000 acres.
To guide its efforts, MALT organizes its work around five strategic pillars: preserving agriculture, protecting biodiversity, building climate resilience, connecting our community, and strengthening the organization.
Areas Covered: Marin County.
Protected: 1,980 fee title acres and 55,721 conservation easement acres
