Land Stewardship Technician – Western Region
Westervelt Ecological Services creates mitigation and conservation banks and provides environmental mitigation and habitat planning services to landowners, businesses, government agencies and land trusts. We are looking for an Entry Level Land Stewardship Technician to join our team in our Sacramento office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
The purpose of the position is to conduct land and habitat maintenance activities. The Land Stewardship Technician will be responsible for maintaining WES’ habitat preserves and appurtenances within the Western Region.
Duties Include: 
  • Conduct land stewardship and site maintenance activities including weed control and vegetation management, tree maintenance, fence and gate repair, water and irrigation management, and coordination with lessees and neighbors.
  • Operate, maintain, transport and repair equipment, such as UTV’s, tractors, trailers, mowers, chainsaws, string trimmers, etc. that may be used during the course of maintenance activities.
  • Conduct habitat restoration implementation
  • Operate and maintain farm irrigation equipment, including plumbing repair and electric motor and pump maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience in ranching, farming, or related management field.
  • California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Mechanical aptitude to maintain/operate land management equipment (farm tractor, all-terrain vehicle, chain saw, etc.) Experience with backhoes and excavators preferred.
  • Ability to interact with employees and contractors on a professional level.
  • Ability to work independently in the field setting, often in a remote location.
