The Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (Ag + Open Space) permanently protects the diverse agricultural, natural resource, and scenic open space lands of Sonoma County for future generations. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Stewardship Supervisor – a critical team member with a leadership role in Ag + Open Space’s Stewardship Program. This position reports to the Ag + Open Space Stewardship Manager. The Stewardship Supervisor leads a team of professional staff responsible for supporting stewardship activities for Ag + Open Space protected properties, including monitoring and enforcement of conservation and open space easements, and management of properties owned by Ag + Open Space. The Stewardship Program is responsible for stewarding Ag + Open Space protected lands in ways that benefit healthy communities, clean water and air, diverse habitats, sustainable agriculture, and climate resiliency throughout Sonoma County. In support of the Ag + Open Space land conservation mission, the Stewardship Supervisor will collaborate with and present to the public, with easement landowners, project partners, contractors, agency staff, and oversight bodies including the Ag + Open Space Board of Directors, Advisory Committee, and Fiscal Oversight Commission.

The Stewardship Supervisor has considerable responsibility for leading a team of staff supporting stewardship of easement and fee lands protected by Ag + Open Space. This position works closely with staff, partners, and contractors to manage complex projects and oversees the day-to-day easement and fee land stewardship work of technician and planner-level staff. This position also assists the Stewardship Manager in developing program policies, budgets, and work plans; serves as a liaison to various public, non-profit, and advisory groups and agencies; and directly supervises staff. This is a full-time position.
